Required Equipment for Technical Programs
Overall equipment configuration must reflect prevailing standards of practice (i.e., a "DIR" or "Hogarthian" approach). Intro and Helitrox courses require just some of items below (see instructor for details). Comprehensive gear packages are available to students at a savings.
- Aluminum or stainless back plate and single piece harness with crotch strap.
- Single bladder wings with short inflation hose (no bungee cords or pull dumps).
- Dry suit (pee-valve or other elimination protection recommended).
- Rubber fins without plastic clips/buckles (spring heel straps recommended).
- Primary and backup mask.
- Primary reel with at least 400 feet of line and safety spool with at least 75 feet of line.
- Wet notes
- Safety tube for surface signaling.
- Closed circuit or goose necked lift bag (50- to 90-pound capacity recommended).
- Cutting devices (minimum of two).
- Primary dive light (canister style; HID preferred).
- Back-up lights (two each).
- Argon bottle and regulator (six cubic feet recommended)
- Aluminum deco bottle and DIR stage rigging (40 cubic feet).
- Oxygen-compatible decompression bottle with DIR deco rigging and labels.
Depending on the course:
- Single cylinder with H valve (minimum of 100 cubic feet).
- Double cylinders with isolation manifold (minimum tank volume 190 cubic feet).
