The Pool

Lord of the Rings

Where is your scuba course taught?

Though we typically teach in Oak Marr Rec Center, indoor, heated, 15 feet deep, Olympic sized pool, we do sometimes teach in other convenient pools.

Can my scuba certified family or friend participate in my class?

Only those paying full tuition are permitted to participate in the pool during any open water scuba course. Certified divers can scuba dive in the pool from 6:00 pm- 7:30 pm for $25. This includes pool entry fee, equipment is available for rent. Call Adventure Scuba Company to schedule.

Is the pool heated? Do I need a wetsuit for class?

We keep our pool heated to 84-86 degrees year 'round. This is the typical temperature of the Caribbean. For anyone who is actively moving through the water, 84-86 degrees is on the warm side of comfortable. But, while underwater on scuba, you will likely get cold because you do not move much and the air you breathe is compressed, cold, and dry. Also keep in mind that normal body temperature is 98.6 degree,s about 15 degrees warmer. You'll never dive in water equal to or warmer than 98.6 degrees so you'll always lose body heat and get cold. You may wish to consider getting a wetsuit, especially since the Caribbean and Gulf of Mexico are seldom warmer.

What should I bring?

On each meeting you provide mask, snorkel, fins, boots, mouth piece and weight belt. These items can be purchased at Adventure Scuba Company where prices are competitive, selections wide, and professional assistance always available. Bring a swim suit, towel, student package and all necessary equipment to each class. The equipment you use for class is what you will use for your certification training dives.
