Why Buy Your Own Equipment?
There are many convincing reasons to buy your own gear instead of renting equipment from a dive shop. Used Gear is just that…used. The first thing that comes to mind is germs. Most people do not share toothbrushes so why would you share regulators? It might make sense when you are just starting and want to test out whether you have an interest in scuba diving but once you have your c-card, dive gear is a must. Safety is the next thing that comes to mind. Your gear is your life support system under the water. You want to make sure that you have the best system and that everything has been maintained and serviced at proper intervals. Your equipment is controlling whether or not you are able to breathe. You need to know and feel confident that it is going to perform and do so well. The next thing to think of is the fit. Your equipment should fit you and needs to do so to function properly. There is a huge difference between a rented BC and one that you have tried on and really fits you properly. Buying gear over the internet doesn’t give you that option.
