Magothy River Association and US Naval Academy

ASC Supports the Magothy River Association and US Naval AcademyMagothy River Association

ASC provided scuba equipment and instructor Rick Ducey to support the Magothy River Association’s (MRA) scientific diver training program for volunteers from the U.S. Naval Academy (USNA) in Annapolis. Classroom and pool sessions were held in February 2006.

The MRA is an all-volunteer group representing about 46 communities along the Chesapeake Bay’s Magothy River Watershed (Maryland). The organization devotes its efforts to projects that protect the welfare of the river and its inhabitants. The MRA Scientific Dive Team, which includes several instructors and divemasters from Adventure Scuba Company, conducts its own operations and also supports the research programs of NOAA, Maryland Department of Natural Resources and others.

The MRA conducts its scientific dive operations year-round and training is provided by professional instructors serving as volunteers to MRA. Adventure Scuba Company divers who are interested in volunteering with the project are welcome to contact Rick Ducey at the shop (703) 263-0427 or e-mail him at rducey@scubava.com.
